Drill, Obama, Drill?

President Obama is attempting to quickly change the topic of news reports and thus voters by opening up Off Shore drilling. His game plan is simple. Change the topic, offer Republicans something that they want, and then say, "Look, I am bipartisan". You have to support the Presidents effort to open offshore drilling although I suspect it is more of a political ploy and nothing much will actually happen. Will he raise taxes on those who choose to drill off shore? Probably.

Cap and tax is also around the corner, which means that energy prices are going up. I suspect this his Obama's way of saying he tried to keep energy prices down despite taxing the hell out of it.

Eugene Robinson Doesn't Watch the News

Today, Eugene Robinson came out with this wonderful piece of work, The Far Right's Hate Element in which explains in great detail why the right is in big trouble because that's where all the radicals are. He goes on to say that, yes, there almost no crazies or radicals on the left! IS HE KIDDING? Does Eugene not watch the news at all? He writes:

But for the most part, far-left violence in this country has gone the way of the leisure suit and the AMC Gremlin. An antiglobalization movement, including a few window-smashing anarchists, was gaining traction at one point, but it quickly diminished after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. An environmental group and an animal-rights group have been linked with incidents of arson. Beyond those particulars, it is hard to identify any kind of leftist threat.
It's hard to identify any kind of leftist threat since 9/11? Really? Let me see if I can find any.

Left Wing Violence at the 2008 GOP Convention

The double standard of the left wing media is growing everyday. Stay on the lookout and make sure you avoid the thoughtless crap Eugene Robinson writes. Apparently, he doesn't watch the news.

Conservative Warrior's Action Plan

Can conservatives win the House or Senate in November?

Possibly, but it's up to you. It's going to take an extremely passionate and expansive grassroots movement. The Tea Party is doing a great job, but what do you do if there isn't a Tea Party group near you or you would just like to get involved in other ways.

1. Vote & Get Out the Vote - This one is pretty obvious, but I still have to point out it is the one thing that matters most in the end. Help other conservatives get out to vote as well. The weather in November is often snowy and slick in many parts of the nation. Give conservatives a ride to the polls, pick them up at home, and encourage others in the community to do the same. Senior citizens may have trouble getting out so help them get an absentee ballot or pick them up at home. You can't count on the campaigns to organize this, you must take a part. Are you the leader who will organize this 'get out the vote' effort in your community? How many volunteer drivers do you need for your community? Give people a way to sign up to be picked up by your drivers. It is simple, common sense stuff but is truly powerful. Somebody has to do this in every community. November is still over 6 months away, but you must begin thinking about this and organizing now.

2. Donate - I know times are tough and politicians have burned us all before. The truth is, if we don't win in November times are always going to be tough, in my opinion. Funding plays a huge role in elections. If you can't give your time, give more.

3. Make Phone Calls - Many candidates have a way for you to make phone calls to voters from your home. You just need to get on the candidates website to see if they have a way for you to make calls. It will include numbers to call as well as a script.

4. Enlist Family and Friends - Make your team larger by enlisting your family and friends in your effort. With 1 family member or friend you can do twice as much and contribute twice as much.

5. Stay Informed & Make Your Voice Heard - As always we must be vigilant of our local, state, and federal government.

Conservative Views: Real Fiscal Conservatism

Josh Barro of Real Clear Markets wrote a great piece this morning on Chris Christie's actions to help New Jersey get out of the red. Christie is doing something very unlikely for a politician, what he said he was going to do. He is taking a comprehensive approach to lower taxes and cut spending, something I have never seen in my lifetime, sadly.

Yes, difficult decisions need to be made when spending is cut and Christie is taking on education. Guess what? That's exactly what our leaders need to do when we are in a financial wreck. Some programs are going to get less money. Does this necessarily  mean that education is going to suffer? Hell no. Sure, maybe students won't get new desks every couple of years and teachers may forgo some pay raises. But in no way is this going to affect the actually learning of the average student.

Let's hope politicians running for office in 2010 and 2012 take note of the responsible actions of Governor Christie.
